poulet, 2 ways

poulet frites: chicken roasted with white wine / thyme / lemon / garlic compound butter; homemade frites with homemade garlic aioli; organic yellow wax beans, simply blanched; an organic salad of red leaf lettuce, vine ripened tomatoes, mini cucumbers, homemade croutons, and a balsamic basil vinagrette. for dessert: apple and fennel pie with flaky crust and large sugar.

smoked cornish hens: hens brined with molasses and herbs, slow smoked over mesquite wood; broiled organic artichokes with homemade garlic aioli; warm french bread with butter.

last night, bryan made me pizza margarita. he loves me.

oliver decided that he's such a big boy he doesn't really need the sippy cup, and can drink from a big kid cup just like mommy. which was pretty hilarious to watch. especially when he figured out he can play with his favorite toy, water, by filling his mouth from the cup and then letting it burble out over his chin like a calm waterfall. or, fill his mouth and blow raspberries. he ended up soaking wet, but he had a lot of fun. i got some video of it. caution: excessive cuteness ahead.

various additional pictures in the august gallery. oy! we need to start a september gallery!

WFD: hot dogs (all natural, uncured, nitrate free, duh) on sprouted grain buns with a pasta salad of tomatoes, basil, fresh mozzarella, and balsamic basil vinaigrette.
